I want to talk about attention because when it comes to us selling our
product or selling our business, before we can do that, before you can sell
your business to somebody, or before you can sell your product to somebody,
first of all, you have to get their attention.
Like Gary Vaynerchuk says, “We are in the attention business nowadays, because people are being bombarded constantly with information.” Gone are the days when there were four channels, and that was it, so you had to watch one of the four. Now it's like 400 channels on your TV. Gone are the days where you had three main newspapers, now you have so many and things like that. So all day long, people are being bombarded with information on social media, on the mobile devices, on the TV, on the websites.
So before you can actually stand in front of a person and sell them your product, or sell them your business opportunity, first of all, you have to get their attention. And that's why we in the game of attention, same like in network marketing and home based business, there's so many different companies with so many different products, with so many different distributors all over the world. So what you have to ask yourself a question is how do I stand out from the crowd? How do I grab people's attention in this busy, busy, busy world of information? So how do you stand out?
And one way for sure to stand out is to be different. So they say different is better than better. What that means is basically stop thinking what everybody else is doing and just copying what everybody else is doing, but start thinking more outside of the box? How can I be a bit different? How can I stand out? How can I surprise people? In that way. So just thinking about different ways of approaching your marketing and your prospecting can help you to really stand out, what a person was who, this person is different from everybody else who have ever pitch me this type of business. So that's number one.
Number two idea to stand out is just simply consistency and quantity. So what does that mean? You might have the best pitch in the world, but if you do one video every three months, then not very many people will see you. So again, coming back to the fact that there is so much information out there, that there's so much on social media, on websites, on everywhere, of information, in order for you to stand out, in order for you to be noticed, in order for you to grab people's attention, you have to be more consistent, you have to be more persistent, you have to produce more content, more volume, in order for you to start being noticed, because just think about it and I don't know how many friends an average person has, but I'm sure it's like a couple of hundred friends.
There's a lot of information is going on in your feed. So if you post one post, if you post one video and you expect for everybody to see that and to respond to you, hey, tough luck, it's a low chance for that to happen, because there's just so many things happening. If I log on to Facebook, half an hour later, I'm not going to see your post because it's being drowned out with all the other information, but if I become consistent, if I start posting things daily, or couple of times a day, guess what, now I have a bigger chance, a better chance to catch your attention because I'm popping up all the time, I'm popping up every single day.
Now that's of course not to go overboard. Like you shouldn't post on your Facebook more than every three hours because then your posts are just competing against each other and you flooding Facebook, but if you do two, three posts a day, that's absolutely fine. And that's the consistency that people start noticing. Like this blog post is I think the blog post number 267. What does that mean? That means for the last 267 days, I went live every single day.
Why? Because I want your attention, because I want to stand out because I want to be noticed. Because guess what, unfortunately, most people never finished things they start. So most people will start doing blog posts for three days and stop. Most people start posting on their Instagram, do it for four days and stop. Most people don't follow through because one, they want the immediate gratification. So they want, you know, the leads and people joining the business right away, which never happens.
Number two, they’re just not disciplined enough to keep going to carry on with whatever they doing. And it actually applies not just to social media, it actually applies everywhere in your business. So if I'm prospecting people face to face, I have to be consistent with that, I need to do it all the time, not just do it for one day, and then do nothing for a month. You know what I mean? If I'm doing home meetings, or if I'm doing home parties, again, I need to be consistent with that.
Otherwise, I won't get noticed, I won't get their attention. You know, if I'm working with my team members, if I'm calling my team members, if I'm being in touch with my team members, again, I need to do it consistently. Because if I speak to all of my team members today, and then I disappear for three weeks, then I reappear again go, “Hey guys, how's it going?” and then disappear again for two weeks.
That's not consistent. That's not going to get me to stand out. And hey, I've heard things before, where some people in my team would say, “Well, in the businesses that I've done before, I've never gotten so much support ,in the businesses that I've done before, I've never seen so much training going on, in the businesses that have done so before. I've never had a leader from 5, 6, 7 levels up call me and things like you know, these are the little things that help you again, to stand out and to grab people's attention, right? Because that's what it is all about before I can sell you how great my business is, before I can sell you how you can progress in my business, first of all, I have to get your attention.
So always think how can I get more people's attention? How can I get more eyeballs on that presentation? How can I get more people to look at what I've got to offer to them and by doing that, you'll start finding more and more because again, we are not in a business of convincing. So I'm not in a business of catching one person and making a business person out of them whether they want it or not. I'm not in that business. I don't want to convince people. So if I'm speaking to somebody and going, “Hey, would you be open to develop an opportunity, to develop a passive income stream from home?” And they go, “No, I wouldn't.” No worries have a awesome day.
Next way I'm sorting I'm not convincing, I’m sorting, but if I want a sword, that means I need to get in front of a lot of people because if I get in front of three people is not much to sort through, you know what I mean? So again, it's all about the quantity. How many people are you reaching on a daily basis whether the face to face, whether through your phone, whether through social media, whether for WhatsApp or whatever you use, you know what I mean? Snapchat, Instagram, you know, whatever. But the more people you get in front of, the more people you will find who will want to purchase your product who will want to join your business, but it's all about grabbing their attention first of all.
