I want to talk about how to do a presentation if you're not using the
products. The title of this blog post is how to do a presentation if you're not
using the product and I have heard this question few times in my network
marketing career, and it always makes me wonder because I like to answer it
with a question. If you're not using the product, then what is going on? Why
are you doing the business if you're not using the product?
Because if you're not using the product, what that tells me is that probably you don't believe in it. Probably, you’re not that excited about it. And it's just strange because how would you recommend a restaurant to somebody if you've never eaten there? Would you just say, “Hey, there is a really good restaurant, you should go and eat there.” And your friend says, “Well, have you been there? Have you eaten there?” “No, I have never eaten there, but you should definitely go there.” It sounds strange, wouldn't it?
Or if you were selling Mercedes and you're driving a Ford Fiesta. Again, why? How come you're not using what you are selling, what you are recommending to other people? So, first thing is a belief thing. And if you're not using the products, you should be asking yourself, why am I with this business? Because one of the best tests whether you're in a good company or not, is actually a question, would you use these products? Would you still buy these products, even if it wasn't a network marketing company, even if you couldn't make money from this? So if you are in a network marketing company, and you are making money and you're still not using the products, then what the heck is going on?
So now, how would you do a presentation then if you've never used the products? Now, I personally would not recommend to do that. Then instead, what I would do if I were you, I'd find the leader or upline sponsor, somebody who is using the products and would ask that person to do the presentation. And because they use the products, if they get the questions, if they get the curiosity from a potential customer or potential business partner, they could actually answer that question, but if I were you, I would get into using products very quickly.
A few times within the last 10 years, I have recruited people who said, “Oh, Gediminas, I'm not going to use the products. I'm just going to get everybody else to buy these products. I'm going to get everybody else to join the business and buy the products and I will make a lot of money in this business.” And my answer is always, “Well, good luck to you, because you are not going to make any money in this business. And you're not going to succeed.” And they're always surprise looking, “Why did you say that?” And I say, “Well, it doesn't work like that in this business. People do what you do, not what you say in network marketing, people will do what you do.”
So if you use the products, your people will use the products. If you are selling the products, your people will sell them and so on. It's an example business. You tell, show. try, do. You tell people what to do. You show people how to do it. You let them try do it by themselves. And once they're good at it, they just do it by themselves, but if you're not using the products, you'll get caught out, people will really find out very quickly whether you're using it or not. So my advice for you is try to use every single product that your company makes. So this way you have that confidence and then you’re no longer selling because when you're using the product you don't sell, you recommend them. But when you don't use your own products, that's when you actually selling it.
