I want to talk about why your mind is like the land. Today’s title is your
mind is like the land. And what do I mean by that?
What I mean by that is that the land or earth or soil doesn't really care what you planted it, does it? If you have a field of land, the land doesn't really care what you plant. You can plant potatoes in it, you can plant corn in it, or you can let the weeds grow in it. It doesn't really care, whatever you plant in it, that’s what it’s going to grow.
Your mind is similar to that earth in one way, that also, your mind doesn't really care what you plant in it. Your mind is not going to say, “Oh, whoa, this is not good, this is going to be harmful for you. This is going to be damaging for you.” No, your mind doesn't really care. Whatever you put in, that's what you're going to get out. Like, they say, rubbish in rubbish out. So if you put in rubbish, if you plant rubbish, if you plant negative inflammation, if you plant damaging beliefs, if you plant limiting beliefs, if you plant all of that stuff, your mind is no going to protest about it.
Your mind is not going to say, “Hey, this is good, this is bad for you, if you plant this, you're going to have a bad life.” No, it's not going to do that. It's going to let you do that. So if you watch garbage TV, if you listen to the news all the time, if you read newspapers and stuff like that, you're basically planting bad seed in your brain, which will in turn produce bad fruit, bad ideas, bad thoughts, bad philosophy. But your mind is not going to object to that. It'll say, “Hey, if that rocks your boat, go for it. Do that.”
But if you stop planting good stuff, like, if you're reading good books, if you're attending seminars, if you're listening to motivational stuff, then it will produce good fruit. So in a way, you are the farmer. You are the farmer, you decide what to plant in the earth, what to plant in the ground. So you can take good seed and plant in it, or you can just let the weeds run the fields.
Totally cool. It's entirely up to you. You're the farmer. You will get what you plant. But don't be one of those people who is unhappy with the harvest, who's unhappy with the fruits after they haven't planted anything. Because I see so many people that complain about their life, that complain that their life is not the way they would like it to be, but they haven't planted anything. They haven't invested in this thing. They haven't put the seeds in, but they’re expecting to get the good fruit. Doesn’t work like that.
If you plant an apple, you're not going to have peers. And if you let the weeds grow, you're not going to have fruit from there at all. So you make that choice, and you make that decision. So whatever you make a decision, don't complain about it later. It is your choice at the end of the day, your life is the sum total of the decisions you have made. If you don't like your life, start making better decisions.
