Why you should build an EMAIL 📧 list?
I want to talk about why you should build an email list. Email list? Is email
even still alive?
Yes, trust me. You want to hear this one out. As I'm using my
time productively during this quarantine, I've been watching the Grant Cardone,
the fourth growth conference that happened last year and I've been watching the
replays of it. And one of the videos that I watched was a guy called Ryan Deiss.
And Ryan Deiss is the owner of a company called Digital Marketer. And he's one
of the top, top, top authorities on marketing in the world. And he did a long
training about different things, but one of the biggest takeaways I got from
his training, he said, “You have to get back into building your email list.”
One
is that it's the easiest way for people to consume content because it comes to
them, they don't have to go to your website, they don't have to look for
anything, it comes to the email, they can open it up and read it. And plus, the
big thing about it, it has an end to it. What do I mean? If you go on Facebook,
there is no end to Facebook, you can keep scrolling and scrolling and
scrolling. And you can spend hours there right?
If you go on YouTube, you watch
a video then you watch the next video then you watch the next day and it can be
endless. People, like, they get stressed out about that, like he never ends.
But when you get an email, and you read through the email, there's a finish to
that. There's an end to that, where you read into the end and you go, “That's
it. I'm done. I've read it.”
They
tested this thing out, they don't just like come up with the stuff. They
actually tested it out and they found a lot of value in building an email list.
But I'm going to tell you the main reason why you should be building an email
list. Well, if you're like most network marketers, you're probably building
your business mainly on Facebook, maybe a little bit on Instagram, and maybe a
little bit on like LinkedIn or other platforms. If most of your business is on
social media, say yes in the comments. Now, if most of your business like your
customers, your team, everything is on Facebook and on other social media, you
are exposing yourself massively.
Why? I'll tell you why. Because your Facebook
account doesn't belong to you. Your Instagram account doesn't belong to you.
None of your social media belongs to you. Your Facebook account belongs to
Facebook, and they can do whatever the hell they like with it. Your Instagram
account doesn't belong to you. It also belongs to Facebook, and they can do
whatever the hell they want with it. So you can build groups of hundreds of
thousands of people on Facebook, you can build a page with a million followers
and likes and tomorrow, Facebook can go bam, and turn it off and delete it and
close it and shut it down. Your Business disappears overnight.
No
matter how much following you've built, no matter how big groups you've built,
you just lost all connection with those people. Especially Facebook shuts down
your main profile. Sometimes they might not be that aggressive, and they might
not shut it down completely, but they might, for example, make it invisible. Like,
that's what I'm experiencing with my page right now, like my page on Facebook has
over 20,000 likes, as over 20,000 followers.
I just did a video on my page this
morning and like 300 people saw it. Normally I get like 3000 views. Why?
Because I pissed off Facebook. Again, I do that a lot. I pissed off Facebook,
and they basically made my page invisible, like most people don't see my page
now until like next Friday. For a week, I'm like, I could do the videos, and
I'm still going to do them, but like only a fraction of people see it, because
Facebook decided that.
If
you're building an email list of your subscribers, of your followers, at least
you have another way of communicating and that email list belongs to you. You
always have a way to reach out to your customers, you always have a way to
reach out to your potential business partners. I would highly, highly, highly
recommend you to figure out a way how to start building your email list. I'm
using Mail Chimp, Mail Chimp is pretty awesome. It's easy to use, and you can
create your email lists, and then you can send your campaigns. That's what I'm
using and it's pretty awesome. I've been using it for 10 years now, a long
time. So it's pretty great and start building your audience.
My
goal is to build now an email list of 1000 people for my followers on social
media. People who are watching my videos, who are attending my courses, I want
to build an email list or at least 1000 people, now that's my goal. I've
already gotten to about 200 people in like a couple of days. I just asked like
on all of my groups, on all of my training groups, I said, “Hey, guys, I really,
really would appreciate if you subscribe to my email newsletter.” And a bunch
of people have done it already. But you want to have some sort of a control.
Now, of course for most of us, this will never happen, your Facebook account
will never get shut down, your groups will never get shut down, your page will
never get shut down. But can you afford to risk it if it did happen? How much
impact would it do on your business if it shut down your main profile? How much
damage would it do for your business if they shut down your groups? How much
damage would it do for your business if they shut down your fan page? Think
about it.
Figure
out other ways of communicating with people, other channels how to have a
connection with your customer base, how to have a connection with your
distributor base and how to have a connection with your followers with your
fans. This way you have a plan B in case it does happen. I would hate it to
happen to any one of you, but just be protected.
