Why being an INTROVERT is an Advantage in Network Marketing?

Today I wanted to talk about why being an introvert is actually an advantage for you in network marketing because I've been doing home based business for the last eight years, and I met so many people from those eight years who would attend the presentation, whether it's a home meeting, or a hotel meeting, or a one to one meeting with myself or somebody else and then at the end of the meeting, they would go, “Oh, I couldn't do this because, like, I can't be like you, like fired up and excited and all of that.”

Like basically describing being an extrovert. So they’re basically saying, “Look, I'm an introvert, I couldn't do what you do. I couldn't be successful in home based business because I'm introverted.” Which is totally untrue because think about it, if you are a natural extrovert, if you are naturally outspoken, loud, bubbly personality, that means when you do the presentation, the chances are you keep hearing things like, “Oh, I couldn't do what you do. Oh, that sounds too hard. No, I could never be like you.”

So being an extrovert is a is actually a disadvantage because some introverts will be turned off by your enthusiasm and excitement and being outspoken and will say, “Oh, I couldn't do that.” Now let's look at completely opposite. What if you are an introvert? What if you are not very outspoken, you're not very loud, you're not jumping up and down.

Like you’re very calm, you just do your presentation, maybe you’re even shy, maybe whatever. Guess what happens, if you're an introvert, if you’re shy, at the end of the presentations, very often you'll hear things like, “If he can do it, or if she can do it, then I can do it too.” Because people will see how terrible you are at it, they'll see that it's not your natural talent, they'll see that you’re not a naturally outspoken and gregarious person and when they see that, they'll think, “Oh my gosh, if they can do it, being an extrovert, I can crush this thing.”

And I think there's more introverts than extroverts. So if you’re so shy and you’re so quiet and you present to another introvert, you will also turn them on, because they'll go, “Oh, look, they're an introvert and they don't have to be bubbly and jumping up and down in order to present this business. So I could do this too.” So that's number one.

Network marketing is all about duplication. Can somebody else duplicate what you do? Can somebody else's repeat what you do, because if nobody else in your team can copy what you're doing, then it's difficult because your business can’t grow, there is no duplication. So if you are very charismatic, very influential person, jumping up and down, very energetic, then you might find it difficult to duplicate that.

However, if you are an introverted person, if you are quiet, if you are a bit shy, like most people are, at least at the beginning, then it gives you this huge advantage because you can duplicate that. There is more people who shy and scared of public speaking, than there are people who are like, “Oh my gosh.” They thrive in that environment. So that's number one.

Number two, is for an extrovert who is like passionate and very energetic, very loud spoken, it’s very difficult to bring you down. For an extrovert it’s really hard to slow down, to calm down. Like they struggle because they are so like hipped up and that's why they very often they only know how to be an extrovert. But an introvert can on purpose, turn up the energy. So for example, let's say you're total introvert, you're totally shy, you don't really like public speaking, and you’re like the shyest person in the world.

But you decide today, you know what, I'll start doing Facebook Live every single day. And you know that on the Facebook Live, you need to increase the volume of your voice and be a little bit more energetic. Because if you go on Facebook Live and go, “Hello, how are you?” People will fall asleep. So you need to bring a little bit of energy. But as an introvert that you can train yourself to raise the energy level for 10 minutes, so like I know other speakers who are naturally introverts and you'd be surprised; guys like Eric Worre, guys like Ray Higdon are introverts.

These guys, when they do an event in front of thousands of people, they pump themselves up for this day or for a few days and then they have to take like two, three weeks off. Like they don't do any other events. They just stay at home, having a rest from all of that. So as an introvert, you can train yourself to raise that energy level for 15 minutes to do a Facebook Live and then as soon as you turn it off, you go and you shut down and for the rest of the day, you can just do whatever you normally do.

So being an introvert is actually an advantage, because you can train yourself to be extrovert on purpose, like purposely extroverted when you need to be like for an event, for a presentation for a Facebook Live, but the rest of your time, you can go back to your status quo of being an introvert and that's totally cool, because it's absolutely why introverts can build a huge business.

So that's really the way to look at it. You know, don't beat yourself up. Don't use being an introvert as an excuse not to succeed in business. Not even that; don't use being an introvert, as an excuse not to even try to build your own business, because it's totally untrue. The more you're going to study successful people in business and in other areas of life, the more you're going to find that a lot of those people were introverted.

A lot of those people were introverted people who may appear as extroverts, guys like Sir Richard Branson, other similar type of business people; they might appear that they are extroverted, but they are extroverted for 30 minutes for that photo session. And then they go back to being introverted or extroverted once a year for that conference, and then they’re introverted for the rest of the year. So don't be fooled, thinking that every successful person in business is an extrovert because it's not true. Most people who are introverted they do even better than extroverts because it's easy duplicable, because other people look at them, and they go, “Oh my Gosh, if this person can do it. I can do it, too.”
