What you do a little your team will do a lot!
I want to talk about duplication in not so positive way, so a negative
duplication in your business. The title of this blog is what you do a little
your team will do a lot.
Now, this is basically a negative duplication in your
business. As a leader you have to be aware that you are teaching your team
members how to behave, as a leader you’re showing them what is acceptable to
do. Any negative behaviour, any negative habits that you practice, your team
will duplicate it out of proportion.
For
example, being late, if you come a little late to the meeting, if you come a
little late to the conference, then your team will be late half an hour, your
team will be late an hour. If you do something a little bit unethical, if you
do something a little bit on the gray side, then your team will do crap loads
of it. If you talk about other people behind the back just a little bit, just a
little bit of rumours, just a little bit of something, then in your team is going
to be blowing out of proportion, talking behind people's backs and rumours.
You
have to remember that you are the role model for a lot of people in your
business, same way you have your role model to your family members, your role
model within your community, same way, you're a role model to your team. And you
may think, well, nobody knows that I'm doing these negative behaviours. Nobody
knows that I have these negative habits. Trust me, network marketing is like a
small village. Somebody fights on one end, people on the other end already know
about it. There’s nothing you can hide from your team. There's nothing you can
hide from your company. Any negative behaviours that you do will get duplicated
in your team.
More
than that, it's not like they’re deliberate, but it's you showing what's acceptable,
like Tony Robbins says, “We teach people how to treat us.” If somebody is
treating you negatively, chances are you allow them in the past to do that and
they learned that it's okay to treat you like crap, that it's okay to be rude
to you. And that's when they carry on doing it.
Same way in your team, you teach
your team what is okay to do. If you see a negative behaviour, and you don't
address it, and you don't attack it, and you don't talk about it, and you don't
pull the person to the side and have a quick chat with them, then it shows them
that, hey, it's okay to do that behaviour. You can get away with that. So next
time, they'll do that behaviour times five, next time, they'll do that behaviour
times 10 and so on. And before you know it, now that becomes a problem in your
business, and now you have to address it.
That’s
why as a leader, you want to make sure that you always show the best example
you can. I know none of us are perfect, I'm not perfect and I'm sure you're not
a perfect person, but try to reduce any negative behaviour. Whatever you do
think, would I want my team members to do that? Would I want my organization to
copy that behaviour? If the answer is no, then don't do it yourself because
it's only going to make it worse.
That’s my training and tip for you. Hope you got value some value in
