What to do if you have a lot of different products to sell?
I want to talk about what to do if you have a lot of different products to
sell. So today's topic is what to do if you have a lot of different products to
sell.
Now, the mistake that a lot of people do, they say, “Well, I'll just
market all of them. I'll say hey, we do this and we do that and we do this, but
the challenges that confused mind always says no. And the more choices you give
to somebody, the more confused they become. So, solution to you, if you have a
lot of different products in your company to sell, is to lead with your best
product, to lead with your prime product. So if you're doing your marketing, if
you're putting a post on Facebook, instead of saying, “Hey guys, we do this,
and we do that, and we do that and we do that.” That's too much.
For
most people, that's too much choice and also, very often it shows them that
you're a master of none, which means you do so many different things that
you're not specializing in anything, you're not like really focused on that, and
most people like to buy stuff which is specialized, they like to buy microwave
from the companies that really specialize in microwave, they like to buy washing
machine from the company that is known to be great at washing machines, and so
on.
So same in your business, even if you have a lot of products, I bet you
have one product that is like your awesome as product, the one that everybody
wants, the one that everybody buys, that's the product you want to lead with.
That's the product you want to do all your marketing on to get people in through
the door.
Once
somebody bought your lead product, once somebody bought your prime product,
now, nobody stops you from saying to them, “Hey, and by the way, we also do
this, and hey, by the way, we also do that, would you like to try it?” And they
will be a lot more likely to try other products once they tried your best
selling product. But don't try to market everything in one go because that's
just going to confuse people and it's going to be too much choice and people don't
like too much choice.
People think they want a lot of choice, but realities,
they don't. They want simple choices. So if you lead with your best selling
product, you'll get the person in through the door and then you can show them
other products, but don't advertise everything you have in one go because
that's just too much.
