UGC User Generated Content
I want to talk about the UGC, User Generated Content.
When you observe social
media of successful companies, successful people, successful influencers and so
on, whether that's on Facebook or Instagram or other platforms, one thing you
will notice that people who run successful businesses or who make a lot of
sales, who impact a lot of people, they use not only but one of the types of
contents that they use is something called user generated content.
For example, if you have a product that you sell, and you ship this product to
your customers, it is super clever to ask your customers to take a picture
while using your product and send it to you. That's called user generated
content.
Because the user is using your product or service, they take a photo,
or they do a video of them using it, and they send it to you or they don't even
have to send it to you, they might put it on their social media and tag you in
that post so that you can share it onto your own stories, onto your own
timeline. It's a very powerful piece of content, one because it's extra content
for you. So it's not just you posting then, it's actually other people helping
you to create your own content, but more than that, it's a testimonial. It's a
referral. It's a recommendation by somebody because nobody would take a picture
with a product if they didn't like it.
If your customer actually likes the product and makes a post and tags you, that
creates what we like to call raving fans, raving fans for the product. It's
customers that are not just using the product, but actually they are passionate
about sharing this product with other people, even though they make no money
from that, because they're just the customer, but they take a picture or they
do a video, or they put a post on their own timeline and tag you in it where
they say, “Wow, I've been using this product, really liked it.”
It's a great
piece of content for you to have in between your other content, which is what
we call user generated content. Also, for this user generated content, you can
approach influencers, so not necessarily straightaway, people who have hundreds
of thousands of followers on Instagram or Facebook, start with small accounts
like people who have maybe 8000 or 10,000 or 12,000 followers, reach out to
them and ask them because those people might not necessarily be making an awful
lot of money from the social media, but you could reach out to them and say, “Hey,
if I sent you this product, would you try it? And if you like it, would you
post a little picture of it? Or if I send you this product, would you try it?
And if you like it, would you make a short video for me about you using it?”
And
they will put it on their timeline, which means if they have 8000, 10,000,
12,000 followers, all of these people are going to see you and they will
obviously tag you in the post so that people can come over to your timeline to
your page and see more about what is it that you do. Again, this is what we
call user generated content because again, it's even though they are an influencer;
they're also a user of the product because you sent them the product to try. So
that's a great piece of content that you might want to incorporate on your
social media if you haven't done so already.
