Today I'm going to talk about the rule of five. It is a super important rule in business as well as in life. So first of all, before we get into the five things I need to tell you a little story. There was a man who decided to cut the tree down. So he would get out every single morning, take his axe, go to the same tree and go bam, bam, bam, bam, bam! five times and then go back home and do whatever he does all day. The next day, he would come out of the house, take the axe, go to the same tree, go bam, bam, bam, bam, bam! five times, then go back to his house, do whatever he is doing and it would carry on from day to day today. And guess what would happen if he keeps doing that every single day, if he keeps going there bam, bam, bam, bam, bam the same tree five times every single day. Guess what's going to happen eventually with that tree? Well, if your answer is the tree is going to fall you are correct. He is going to end up chopping down that tree. There are five very important lessons in this story.
First of all, lesson number one, you need to know what you want to accomplish. This man's goal was to cut the tree down so that's why he knew his mission; he knew his vision. A lot of people get into the business and they have no idea what do they want to accomplish? They’re just here for the sake of it, but they don't really have a vision. They don't have a goal. They don't have a plan what they want to achieve. So that's number one. Very important to know where you're going and what's your mission. What's your vision? What's your target?
Lesson number two in the story is you have to have the right tool in order to achieve the goal. If the man took a baseball bat, instead of the axe every single day, he could have spent years bashing that tree and it wouldn't fall. So you have to have the right tool. In business, do you have the right tools to achieve what you want to achieve? Because if you haven't got the right tools, you might just be banging your head against the wall and not getting the right results.
Lesson number three in the story is you have to be focused. So what does that mean? The man kept going to the same tree every single day to cut it down. If he would go to one tree, bam, bam, bam the next day, go to the next tree bam, bam, bam. You know, he would just be hurting and scaring a bunch of trees but he wouldn't be getting any result because he's not focused. So if you want to achieve something in business or in life, you have to get focused at one thing. Get really good at one thing, then move on to the next thing, then move on to the next thing. In business it’s very popular to say, “Oh, you know, you can't keep all of your eggs in one basket. You know, you have to diversify your income.” I agree, but not all at the same time, so build one business up until its successful, then go to the next one, then go to the next one. Don't start building five businesses at the same time because that's just insanity, you cannot do that because you're not focused.
Lesson number four in the story is that you have to be consistent. The man kept going out every single day, if you just went one day bam, bam, bam, five times then do nothing for a week then go maybe again bam, bam, bam, then do nothing for three days - that tree is not falling, that tree is not being chopped down because by the time you come back a week later it's healed itself by that time because you not being consistent. If you want to get great results in business, you have to become consistent; you have to do it every single day. Yes, not Monday to Friday, not when you feel like it, not when the weather is nice outside, every single day, because if you're not consistent, I can tell you that right now I'm going to save you some time. Don't even start. Don't even waste your time because if you're not consistent, you're not going to get results. I promise you that. But what else is new? Imagine if you got a job and then you came some days you didn't come to work some days, then you came again some days, how long will they keep you? Would they promote you if you kept not showing up to work? I don't think so. So same in business, you have to treat it same way. You have to be consistent and you have to show up every single day. That's why we have DMO, Daily Method of Operation not Monday to Friday method of operation, not when you feel like it Monday method of operation, it’s daily method of operation because you have to perform daily in your business if you want to get results.
And the last lesson number five is that the man kept swinging until the tree fell down. So very, very, very good word to go by in your business is UNTIL. I will not do my business you know how I feel like it or I’m not going to do my business till next Monday. I'll do my business until I get results, so you don't quit until it's done. So if you want to get results, if you want to achieve the top ranks in your business, if you want to earn big income, you have to make a decision to keep at it until you get results. Now your plan might not be the exact way it works out. So unless you’re prepared to keep at it and unless you’re prepared to keep swinging then you're going to miss your chance, then you're going to give up too easily. And you've heard stories like acres of diamonds, you know about the man spending all of his life searching for diamonds just to realise that they were in his backyard. You’ve seen those little posters on Facebook with the man digging for gold and he's like this close and then he gives up and walks away. Like there's so many stories like that about people, who've been so close to success and they gave up just a bit too early. They gave in just a bit too soon, they’ve thrown that towel into the ring just a little bit too early and they give up on their dreams. Ask yourself “if not this, then what?” If you're not going to do this, then what? What’s going to help you to become financially independent? What’s going to help you to retire early? What’s going to help you to earn money for the rest of your life without actually having to go to work? What's going to pay you money whilst you’re sleeping? I don't know any other way. Network marketing is the best way but it's up to you. You can look around that is entirely up to you. But if you do decide to do this, then you have to make a decision to do it until you get results. Not just when you feel like it, not just when it's not raining, not just when everybody is supporting you and cheering you on, you have to do it until you get results. So that's five lessons from the story, that's the rule of five.
