Success Is A Way Of Life - Not A Destination

I want to talk about reverse engineering your success.



As I study successful people, as I read books of successful people, as I attend seminars, and so on by successful business people successful actors and things like that, I find it many times I hear this thing that many successful people do; and what they do is reverse engineer their success. What does that mean?

Instead of sort of having your fingers crossed and hoping that everything works out fine? What they do, they first of all, think of, “Okay, what do I want to get in my life or in my business or in my career?” They think of the end result. Let's say it's a certain position or certain amount of money or whatever, and then the reverse engineer backwards, what they need to do in order to achieve it, what would have to happen for them to have it.

One of the great examples was Darren Hardy, the chief editor of Success Magazine, I remember how he shared how he found his dream wife, he decided that he wanted to find his dream wife, dream soul mate, so he sat down and write out pages and pages of how this person would look like, how they would be like etcetera. Then he thought, “Okay, how would I find a person like that? Well, I can't find them like that. Instead, I need to think who would this person look for? What type of man would this woman look for?” And then he wrote out pages and pages of what type of man that type of woman would look for. And then he chose to become that man, in order to attract the right woman, and that's exactly what happened. It's just another example of reverse engineering the success.

Instead of thinking, “How can I get lucky? Or how can I just win a lottery.” Instead, we can think, “Okay, what type of person do I need to become, in order to guarantee my success?” Jim Rohn used to say in order to make my success inevitable; good word, inevitable; which means, what do I need to do every day to make it guaranteed that my success habits, maybe there's actions, maybe there's things that I need to do, maybe there's things that I need to become in order to have and basically reverse engineering that success and you can do that in your business too. You want to reach a certain qualification? Break it down, okay, how many leads do I need at whatever levels, how many points, how much volume, how much whatever I need to do?  So you reverse engineer the whole qualification to work out what you need to do.
