Recipe for FAILURE!

Posted by Gediminas Grinevicius on Thursday, February 13, 2020 Under: Personal Development

I want to talk about failure, about not achieving things. So for a change instead of giving you a success tip, I'm going to tell you what you might be doing that is killing your success.

I've actually picked up this little thing that I'm going to show you from my buddy Fraser Brooks. He's absolutely awesome. I absolutely love him. And I heard him talk about this and I just loved it because it's so, so true. So I wanted to share it with you because I think you're going to enjoy it too. So this is the cycle of failure. If you want to achieve less, this is what you need to do. If you want to have less result, this is what you need to do. So let me explain.

If you want to make sure that you're not going to start doing your Facebook Lives, if you want to make sure that you're not going to do any sales, if you want to make sure that you're not going to recruit any people into your business. Do this. Think more about it? Why am I saying this? Well, when you think more, guess what's going to happen? You're going to start doubting more. The only way for you to start doubting yourself, the only way for you to start doubting your business or your product is to start thinking about it.

Like, when you sometimes you have this inspiration to go and do something, you have an idea and then you go, “Well, that idea came to me, it can’t be a good idea.” And you don't act on it. And then few months later, you see somebody else making money from the idea you had six months ago, but you never acted on it. So whenever an idea comes in, whenever you think of doing something, whenever you think of, of something that could really help your business or for you to progress, there is a law of diminishing intent, the law of diminishing intent, meaning, the longer you wait after this idea came before taking an action, the lesser the chance that you will ever take action, the bigger the chance that it will diminish, that the intent will diminish.

W
hen you think too much about it, then you start doubting, because, “Hey, I can analyse anything to death. If I start analysing anything, everything will look absurd. Everything will look like it's definitely going to fail. Everything will look like it's never going to work out.” So if you want to start doing Facebook Lives, and because I do Facebook live every day, I speak to so many people who go, “Oh I wish I could do lives like you. I wish I could do videos like you.” I'm going, “Well, what's stopping you?” “Well, I'm thinking about doing them.” Then you’re never going to do them because the more you're going to think about it, the more you're going to start doubting yourself.

And when you start doubting yourself, guess what's going to happen? You're going to do less; you're going to do less. So the more you think about it, the more you're going to doubt yourself, the more you're going to doubt the opportunity, the more you're going to doubt the industry, the more you're going to doubt the politics and everything else and the less you're going to do. So in the end, you end up doing less than because you do less. Guess what happens? You start thinking even more. So now because you have time to think. Like one of the best cures for negative thoughts, for being down for being depressed, one of the best cures is get into action. Like put so many appointments in your diary that you wouldn't have time to sit and think, “Oh God, your life is.” Sit and think how unlucky you are.

You only have time to do if I'm speaking to somebody, and they go, “Oh, I'm being really down today.” I go, “Oh, yeah, so you haven't been doing anything?” “What do you mean?” Because you only have time to throw yourself a pity party if you're not in action, if you're not calling people, messaging people, recruiting people, selling products, building your business. Because when you do all of that stuff, you don't have time to think, you don't have time to doubt and to be sorry for yourself and to be saying how unfair the world is in your life. The only time you have time to do that is when you're not in action. So one way to fix it is to start here. Instead of thinking just act on it, just do it, the Nike philosophy, just go and do it.

Now I know it's not ideal to do things when you haven't learned yet hundred percent when you haven't got your skills yet. We're going to get to that. But what I'm saying is start doing things. You’re thinking about doing Facebook Lives, get on the Facebook Live, you’re thinking about starting to sell products, start selling products, you’re thinking about building your own business, start building your business, stop thinking about it, and start doing start putting action because otherwise, you'll start doubting more, you'll start doing less and then you'll start thinking more and the cycle continues. And you can think it to death. You know, and like the good old Brian Tracy says he says Eat That Frog.

This also applies to your daily actions. So when you wake up in the morning, you have like a list of things to do like a mental list, right? If you're pro you have a written list, the most of you will probably have a mental list of things to do right? Now those things are have different value and have different importance and usually, the thing that can most impact your business, the thing that can most influence your life, is the one thing that is really uncomfortable, is the one thing that you’re really scared to do. That's usually the one thing.

So what we tend to do as human beings, which tend to do everything else, but not the thing, even though that's the thing that could make us the most money, that's the thing that could change our life. We tend to do everything else, right? Why? Because we’re uncomfortable doing the thing. We're scared to do that. So Brian Tracy uses the philosophy or an example of eating a frog. So imagine you woke up in the morning and you know you have to eat a frog today. Now there is no way out of this one. You can't delegate it. You can't cancel it. You can't wiggle your way out of it. You have to Eat That Frog.

Now for most of you probably that's pretty disgusting, right? But you have to eat it right? Like live or die. You have to eat it. When is the best time to Eat That Frog? When? Maybe the best thing to do is to think about it, is to ponder on it. Or is it the best thing to eat it right away and get it over with? Well, the answer of course is to get it done right away is to eat the frog, right? The first thing you woke up, you know that today after you eat the frog, you don't want to eat it. You just get it done and then that's it because thinking about it. It's not going to make it better is it? You're thinking about eating that frog and it's all slimy and wiggly right like it's not going to help.

The more you think about it, the more you're going to doubt your ability to do that, right? And then you're going to do less, you're not going to eat it in the end because you will gross yourself out, you will think how horrible it is, you know what I mean? So same thing with those things that you find challenging in your business, maybe it's contacting that chicken list, those people who could really smash in business, but you’re scared of talking to them, because they are so successful, because they make so much money because they are more influential than you are. So you scared shirtless to talk to them. But you know that that's one thing that could really impact your business.

Or maybe it's going and running that event or maybe it's doing that public speaking and standing up in front of your team and actually becoming a leader and starting to train them or whatever it is, maybe it's doing that video in English or whatever it is. So whatever it is that scares you the most, that’s the thing you need to do the first in the day, and that's the thing you need to do with thinking as less as possible, because the more you're going to think about it, the worse is going to get, you know what I mean? That's the key to success. And that is the recipe for failure.

That's the recipe for not doing things, right. So do it now. Act on it, you know, get it over with straight first thing in the morning, and then you will feel better. Because once you got that out of the way, you have the whole day to crush it, because otherwise, you do all the other things and you still know that that horrible thing is waiting. That thing out of comfort zone is still waiting so all day, you're dreading it. You know, like I remember when I first started doing public speaking, when I first started going on a stage to speak in front of people, my favourite time to speak used to be to be the first one to speak.

Because I would come on the stage do a bit and then for the rest of the day, I can sit there relaxing, listening to everybody else speaking because if I'm the last, oh my Gosh it's a torture because all day long, I'm thinking how am I going to be? How am I going to be? You know what I mean? So that's why you need to get it over with right away.
