want to talk about motivation and they say about 98% of people who become world
champions; become Olympic gold medallists and reach the top of whatever sphere
of life, they have this burning desire, they have this hunger to achieve
something and reach something.
But the problem is that the very large percent of them, once they reach the gold medal, once they become World Champion, they lose that drive, they lose that desire, they lose that hunger, and they plummet down and somebody else takes their place and the similar thing exists in business too.
Very often people set a goal to earn a certain amount of money or to reach a certain position, or to do certain thing, once they reached it, that fire is extinguished, and they lose the drive, and they lose the motivation to carry on. What you need to do is find a way to keep fanning that fire, to keep adding fuel to that fire so that even when you reach your goal, you set the next one, you set the next objective, you set the next vision, you set the next mission, so that you don't get burnt out, you don't lose the fire, you don't lose the passion to keep going, to keep achieving, to keep doing the things that you need to do.
Once you hit that momentum, once you're on that winning streak, you want to keep going because the challenge is that our natural human being mindset wants to relax. Because if you've been making 2,000, 3000 a month, and you reach the income in your business, where you start making 20,000, 30,000 a month, guess what's going to happen? Your brain is saying, “Hey, chill out, relax. You’re making 10 times more than you made before.” And you lose that motivation, you lose that fire, because the ambition you had you reached it, you’ve done it, you’re okay, well, you can chill out for the next six months, and you'll be fine. And you need to find a way to motivate yourself, to set the bar higher, to set the dream higher so you keep going even though you start making 10 times more than you made before. Because otherwise, you'll just say, “Hey, I don't need to work anymore. I can relax.”
Look, I'm not saying you can never relax. I'm not saying you can't take holidays and spend time with your kids that you should always be working and working. No, I'm not saying that, of course you need to enjoy the fruits of your labour; you need to do whatever you need to do to celebrate your wins. However, you need to keep raising your standards so that your ceiling becomes your floor. Do you understand how powerful that is? So that when you reach 10,000 a month, which maybe some time ago was your ceiling, something that you looked up to like, “Oh my Gosh, if I could only reach that.” When you reach that that should now become your floor. That should now be a minimum standard. Not like, “Hey, I can always go back to making 2000.” No, 10,000 is now your minimum.
That's the working standard. Every month you need to make at least that. You can make more if you want. This way you keep that fire and you keep that hunger. They say work like you're broke. Some of you you're making good money, like you're making good money at your work and making good money in your business but don't have that drive. You don't have that passion. Because you're okay, you're not struggling. I remember when I used to really struggle with money. Now maybe I'm not struggling that much. But you need to find ways how to motivate yourself, how to work as if you're broke, even if you’re making good money.
