Today I wanted to talk to you about team members being coachable. We always say that in our business you only need to succeed in only few things. One, you have to have a burning desire, you have to be hungry and two, you have to be coachable and three, you have to be willing to work.
So how do you determine if the person is coachable because that's very important if you're going to be building a business with that person you need to know if they really are coachable and the easiest way to determine if the person is coachable is give them homework. Once you start working with somebody in your business, you need to give them some homework and tell them when to report back.
If they do it and come back to you, it's a sign that they may be coachable. That's the easiest way to determine if somebody is coachable; always give them homework so when you sign up a brand new person ask them, “Hey can you do this for me and get back to me?” once they’ve done that, give them another task and very quickly you'll notice who is talking the talk and who is the walking the walk because everybody says, “Yeah I'm coachable, yeah I learn things, yeah I can listen to instructions,” but a lot of people don't allow their ego to get over it and to actually accept instructions from another person or take guidance etc., and very quickly you flush them out. You'll see some people they'll say yeah I'm coachable and then they don't do what you tell them to do. You realise they're not coachable and then there will be other people who you tell them what to do they come back to you go, “Yeah I've done it,” and these are the people that are easiest to work with because they set their ego aside and they listen to what you're trying to tell them.
That's the easiest way to determine if somebody is coachable and you'll find that very quickly it's so much easier to build business with those people who do listen to instructions. But hey not everybody will, not everybody will do and sometimes you will have leaders who will become successful who don't listen to you and it's okay too, it's absolutely fine but the ones who will listen to you, the ones who will do their homework that you set them, who will do the tasks that you set them, it’ll be pleasure to build business with them. So that's how you find out if somebody is coachable.
