Don’t Make It About You
I want to share with you how to recruit more
people into your network marketing business and how to get better at it. Okay,
so the title of this blog post is don't make it about you.
One of the biggest
mistakes that people make in network marketing and I see it especially brand
new people do that is when they get started in network marketing in the home
based business they excited, it's an amazing opportunity, they're going to make
all of this money and they're going to become successful and everything. And
because they’re so excited, they just want to go and talk to everybody. They
want to talk to their friends, they want talk to the family, they want to tell
everybody about their business, their work colleagues and without
realizing it, they are shooting themselves in the foot.
So without realizing
they are doing something completely wrong, because they shouldn't do it. What
they're doing, actually, they making it all about them. There is a saying that
you can't be a prophet in your own town. What does it mean? It means that
people will know you the most who are closest to you will not listen to you. So
if you go to people closest to you, and you start explaining your home based
business, you're going to lose a lot of them. Because they're going to go like,
well I know you as a sister, as a cousin, I know you an accountant, not as a
business person.
What’s that going to do is it’s going to actually do more
damage than good while as instead, what you should be doing is using third
party tools. So yes, you still have to talk to your friends, family, and work
colleagues. But all you have to do is ask them, if they would be open to take a
look at an opportunity to earn extra income, to take it a look at opportunity
to develop a stream of passive income, to take a look at an opportunity where
they could get some great quality products at a low price. And if the person is
open, they don't do the explanation, you don't do the explanation.
Instead, you
use the tool to do the explanation. So a tool could be a video, right? You
know, you sit down with them. And you say great, because you're open let me play
this video. So you let the tool do the talking, and they will most often will
listen more to the tool than they would listen to you. Another third party tool
that you can use is an event.
If there is a webinar that's happening, or if
there is a local business opportunity meeting that you can take that person to,
again, they'll see somebody else present the business, they listen more to them,
they'll see other people around, which is social proof, which proves that
you're not the only crazy person doing this business, that there's other people
involved in it and again, it will do a much better job explaining the business.
And the third party tool is to introduce them to another person. So again, if
there is no meeting happening, maybe sometimes you speak to somebody who might
be interested and instead of trying to explain it yourself, you just introduce
them to your sponsor, you introduce them to your leader, and you let them do
the talking. What if they're not close to you? No problem. You can do a freeway
call, you can do a video call on WhatsApp on Facebook Messenger, on zoom, on
Skype, and put your leaders in on one end in front of a camera, you and your
prospect at another end and they talk.
But you should not do the talking and I
see this mistake all the time, especially brand new people who start in the
business very often they'll do that, you know, I'll speak to them and I go, “Well,
how is it going?” And they go, “Oh my gosh, like nobody's joining my team.
Nobody's interested in my business.” And I go, “Well, I haven't spoken to
anybody. How are you explaining the business? How are you showing them the
business?” While I'm trying to explain to them, that's where the problem
because you shouldn't be, you shouldn't be explaining it. You should use a video, you should use an
event or you should use another person, you should not be explaining the
business yourself because that's how you’re going to lose those people. That's
how they not going to be interested.
So you always have to use a tool. And when
you use the tool, they will also see that they can do it. Because if you
explain the business very well, they might say no to you, because they are
thinking, “Oh my Gosh, I could not explain the business like that.” But if you
showed them a video they’ll go, “Oh my Gosh, I could play a video. That's not
hard. That's easy.” So there's so much value in using the third party tools. So
remember, whether it's yourself if you're still new in the business, or you
recruit a new person, tell them don't tell anybody anything, put those people
in front of me and let me do the talking and I will recruit them for your team.
This is going to give you a lot better results and if you get three, four or
five people in your local area they're bringing their friends, family, work
colleagues to you, oh my Gosh, your business is going to explode, your team
will start growing and you have more work than you can imagine. So that's a
great way to explain to somebody about the business and the great way to
introduce somebody into the network marketing industry.
