Don’t give up on your dream because of other people!
I
want to talk about giving up on your dreams.
Time to time I get a message from
somebody, from a leader or a growing leader in other companies, or sometimes even
in my own company, saying, “Look, my leader mistreated me, humiliated me, made
me feel embarrassed, criticized me in front of other people. So I decided I'll
quit the business.” And I always say, well, that's the worst thing you could
do. That's the worst decision that you can make. Because you're going to give
up on your dreams, because of other person's behaviour. You're going to punish
that leader, by stopping making money for yourself and for your family. Does
that even make sense? Of course not.
Very
often, we get so upset, we get so mad at the leader, at the person or maybe at
the company that we want to quit the business to show them. But actually, who
are you punishing by doing that? Most of all, you're punishing yourself.
Because you've made all of this work, you've invested all of this time and
effort into building your business, into building your team and now you're
going to quit on all of that just because somebody was an asshole. That doesn't
make any sense because you're just going to be punishing yourself, you're going
to be reducing your own income.
If something like that happens, yeah, you might
want to eliminate those toxic people from your life, you might not want to have
anything to do with a person who is being rude to you, or who's humiliating
you, or who's behaving in a bad way towards you, but it doesn't mean you have
to stop doing what you're doing because your team still needs you. Other people
who you can help with your product or your business opportunity still need you.
And why would you punish them because somebody was asshole to you or somebody that
was bad to you, it wouldn't make any sense.
Always
when I get this message from people, I always say to them, don't do it. In that
moment when everything is boiling inside of you and you're mad and you're
angry, it's so easy to make a wrong decision. And I always say to them, “Look,
take a deep breath, sleep on it and think about it, but you're going to be
doing the wrong decision if you do that.” Stick with it, work through it, and
come out at the other end even stronger, and keep getting resolved for
yourself. Keep making the money, keep helping your team making money, keep
helping other people and don't worry about that person who was negative towards
you. It tells more about them than it does about you.
