Don’t TELL instead SHOW
Today
I wanted to talk about don't tell and instead show!
What do I mean by that in business? Very often I come across people who go, “I'm an excellent
speaker. So I'd like to be speaking, or I have some great ideas about the
business, I'd like the company to listen to my great ideas about the business
or, I'm an awesome recruiter or whatever.” And people say a lot of things. Now,
sometimes it's true, sometimes it's not true but to be honest with you, it
doesn't really matter, instead of telling people about how great recruiter you
are, or what a great salesperson you are, or what an amazing ideas you have,
instead, show them.
So if you want the company to start listening to you, if
you want your sponsors to start listening to you, if you want your team to
start listening to you show them what you’re made of, show them how great
speaker you are, show them how great recruiter you are, show them how great
seller you are because when you start producing results, guess what,
people will start paying attention to you. So if you go out and recruit a bunch
of people and support them and they start exploding and your team has growing,
guess what, you won't need to call the company, the company is going to be
calling you and go, “Hey man, what are you doing? Hey we want you on this next
conference, hey, could you do a training.” Same with your upline leaders, like
a lot of people go, “Oh I'm not getting any support from my upline, oh, they're
not calling me, they're not paying attention.”
Start
producing, start recruiting people, start selling products, start growing your
business, guess what, you’ll get the attention of your upline very, very
quickly. They will be on the phone to you, “Oh my gosh man, what are you doing?
It looks like awesome. I want to work with you more. I want to support you,
anything you need, can I make you a cup of coffee.” You'll get attention right
away. So it's not about telling how great you are, is showing and with great
ideas, like I have so many people who come into the business, they've done
businesses in the past or they had high position jobs and they go
like, “Oh I've got some great ideas how to improve this company.” And I go, “Hey,
man, look, would 50,000 a month be enough for you to start with to earn?” And
they go, “Yeah, absolutely.”
So just go do what we teach you because we can get
you to that income because we have leaders making that income. So just do what
we tell you, let's get you to that income and once you have that income, sure, give
us your ideas. Yeah, improve the business. Yeah, change the company, but let's
just get you to that first, before you start putting across your ideas to the
company, before you start changing anything, because we already got a system
that helps people to get there. So don't tell, show, if you want more attention
from your company, produce, if you want more attention from your leaders, produce.
If you want your team members to admire and respect you more, produce, it's
just about that. It's about getting into action and getting to work.
I
saw a quote somewhere where it said, “Work hard in silence and let your results
speak.” I think that's so powerful, instead of saying, “I'm going to open the
whole of Africa and I'm going to be recruiting 10,000 people.” And not that it's
bad to share your vision, it's absolutely fine, but there's so many people who
just, they talk and talk and talk and talk, but they don't actually do because
the thing is that very often people get this pat on the back, they get a reward
for just saying what they're going to achieve. What happens is that people
start in a home based business and they go, “Oh, I'm going to work harder. I'm
going to retire my husband. I'm going to work hard and I'm going to build an
orphanage in Africa. I'm going to work hard and I'm going to do this.” And
people go, “Wow, you’re so amazing.” So they realize that actually, I don't
need to do the work. I just need to say to people what I'm going to do, and
everybody's gonna give me a part of the bag and everybody is going to go, “Oh,
you're so amazing.”
Should
you feel good about sharing your goals? I think you should feel good when you
achieved your goals, not when you just say, “Oh, one day, one day.” A lot of
people live in this magical place called someday I'll ride, someday I'll do
that and someday I'll do this. So once again, don't tell people how great
you're going to be, don't tell people how high level you're going to reach,
don't tell people whatever, go and do the work. I mean once in a while, yeah, I
share my vision with my team too, my goal is to get six people in our team to
100,000 a year income and my personal goal is to earn 30 million pounds in
network marketing. That’s not a six months goals and that's not a 12 months goal,
it’s going to take me a lot longer than that but that's my vision, but instead
of just saying that every day, I actually go and do the work, I actually go and
produce, I actually go and prospect people every single day, I actually go and
speak to my team members every single day, I actually go and build my business
on a daily basis, I don't just talk about it. So that's really my advice for
today.
