After how many NO’s do you give up?
I want to talk about recruiting good
quality people in your business. And the title of this blog says, “After how
many no's do you give up?” So why do I ask that?
Well, the reason why I asked
that is because good, strong, quality people, very often they will say no, at
least the first time you asked him to join your business or the first time you
asked him to take a look at it. They'll go, “No, sorry.” Why? Because they
already successful at whatever they do. They are busy and for most of them,
they just laser focused on whatever they do.
So if it's an accountant, it's a
lawyer, it's a barista, it's a doctor or whatever, they're going to be busy
with what they're doing already because they're successful people, because
they're good quality people. So that's the reason why the title of this blog is
after how many no's do you give up because most people will ask somebody once and
if that person says, “No, I'm not interested.” They'll stop, they'll just give
up on that person and they'll move on.
Now, there's a distinction here because very often I
get people who are addicted to this one person joining the business. So they’re
like, “Oh my gosh, how do I convince this one person to join my business?” Like,
hey, look, you can spend too much time just like one person and just I'm really
hoping this one person join. You have to do your numbers, you have to get
enough people on a daily basis you're reaching out to and offering your
business opportunity. And because at the end of the day, you're not convincing
people, you're sorting for people.
However, the distinction here is good
quality people, if you know that the successful person, they have great
potential to be in your business, and maybe even hopefully even know
them personally. Then what I would say is, don't just ask them once and stop, follow
up with them time after time, right? So maybe every couple of months, you reach
out to them and say, “Hey, we've got a business opportunity meeting happening.
Maybe you'd like to attend?” Maybe a few months later, “Hey, hope you doing?
Well, I've got a home party happening; maybe you'd like to come? I'd love to
have you there.” Again, maybe a couple of months later, “Hey, hope you’re doing
fantastically well, we've got a national conference going on.
I'd love to invite you as my personal guests, for
you to see some successful people in our business.” And so on, you know what I
mean? You have to be persistent. Because at the end of the day, the person who
says yes to everybody, and says yes to every business opportunity, very often
will not do much because they join your business and two days later, they
already joined another five companies, you know what I mean? But the person who
says no to everybody, once you get them into your business, they are solid,
they're going to focus and they're going to work their butt off in order to
achieve results, because they are that type of the person.
So the idea for
today's blog post, the tip for this blog post, is that when you’re going
after great quality people, one, don't expect them to say yes, right away, most
of them will say no to you. So prepare for that.
Number two, you have to be
persistent with them, you have to show them that you are serious about your
business. And one of the ways you show people that you're serious about your
business is by key following up with them. Because if you reach out to somebody
was they'll go yeah, whatever, no, not interested. But if you reach out to them
twice for each times, four times, five times 6, 10 times, they're going to go,
“Oh my gosh, this person is really serious.
This person is really committed,
this person is really consistent. I need to give them a chance. I need to have
a look at the business.”And you know, I've heard so many stories in our
industry of super successful people who now are making really, really good
money. You know, some of them six figures and some of them even seven figures
who said no to the business five to 10 times before they said yes. So don't
ever give up on somebody who has great potential. Keep following up with them
and you'll be surprised how many people will join your business in the end when
the time's right for them.
