3 steps to great habits
I want to talk about habits, how to develop great habits. We all know that
habits are incredibly important and habits will either make us or break us. They
say habits can be the best of servants or the worst of masters and you will be
a slave to your habits you want it or not. So you might as well develop good
habits instead of having bad habits, but saying all of that, then how can we
develop great habits?
Step
one, one of the best ways to develop great habits is to systematize. The easiest
way for you to develop a habit or to have a habit is when there's something
that you do, well, you don't need to think about it. The less you need to think
about doing something, the more it is systematized, and the easier for it to
become a habit. If you're changing your routine all the time, then it's very
difficult for you to develop new habits because you're constantly changing it.
But if you develop a system, if you have a system that I wake up at this time,
I do this first, I do this next, I do this next, I do this next, then that
systematize. And if you do the same system day after day, after day after day,
guess what happens? It becomes a habit where you don't even need to think about
it. When it comes to developing habits, it's a lot about systematizing it so
you can do the things without even having to think about it where they become
part of your routine. So that's number one to systematize.
Once
you've systematized it, the second step is to track the numbers. You need to
know your numbers. One of my mentors long time ago said to me, “If you don't
know your numbers, you don't know your business.” And that's stuck to my head because
every business that is thriving, they know their numbers, they know what
they're selling, they know what they're not selling, they know when the numbers
are up, they know when the numbers are down, they are tracking the statistics,
they are tracking the gauges so they know what's going on in the business.
So
same way you, if you want to develop great habits, one, you need to systematize,
two, now you need to evaluate, look at the numbers. When I do this, I feel like
that, when I do this, I feel like that. So you realize that okay, this is
influencing me in that way and that is influencing in that way, so you can now
learn what to adjust in your life.
And
then finally, step number three to developing great habits is to get rid of
things that are draining you, to get rid of things that are causing you damage.
So, first you systematize things in your life so that it becomes easier to make
it into a habit. Then you track the numbers and you see, okay, every time I do
this, that's how I feel, every time this happens, that's how I feel.
So once
you notice the things that are affecting you badly, once you notice the things
that are affecting you in a negative way, then you start getting rid of them,
you start stripping them away from your life, that you only keep the good stuff
right so that then it causes you to always feel good and to always perform in
your maximum, in your best possible manner. These are the three steps to
develop great habits.
