I want to talk to you about the two
mistakes that many, many, many, many people make when they get involved with
network marketing. So what are these two mistakes and these mistakes are so
common. The first mistake that a lot
of people and it's actually either or. So most people don't make the both
mistakes, they either make one or the other. So let's have a look at these
The first mistake that a lot of people make is they
jump in without knowing what they doing and they make a hell of a lot of
mistakes. And I get you, if you if you're part of that group of people, I get
you, I feel you, I know why you do that. So these people get so excited about
the business opportunity, they get so excited about sharing it with everybody
they know that they leave their brain at home and they just go in completely
mess it up. And I was one of those people.
Unfortunately, I was one of those people. So I went to my friends and family, I went to my work colleagues and I said all the wrong things, I scared people away from me, I had people run across the street from me when they saw me, I would sell the business to somebody and I would buy the business back from them. So I have made all the mistakes possible. And of course, I learned from them and I got better and better and better. However, could I have done it better? Absolutely. If you just listen to your sponsor, if you just do what your mentor tells you, you can save a lot of hassle, you can save a lot of wrong things that you would have done. So like when I get a brand new person started, I tell them, “Hey, don't talk to anybody. Don't try to explain this business to a living soul.”
Why? Because you can be a prophet in your own town. Just because you started network marketing this afternoon, doesn't mean that all of your friends, family or colleagues will now look at you as a business authority, no chance, they will still look at you as a brother in law, as a cousin, as a work colleague, they not going to look at you as a business authority. Therefore, they don't going to listen to your money message, they're not going to listen to you telling them about this incredible business that you came across.
Instead, your job is to put these people in front of me because I'm your mentor. Imagine the scenario, I recruit you to the business, so your job is to go, “Hey, I just found something super excited, I want to introduce you to this man. He will tell you things that are going to blow your mind, it’s absolutely incredible.” So you don't mess the contacts up. I did it. I went and I tried to explain to them about network marketing and I messed it up. So I made a lot of mistakes, which I could have prevented if only I listened.
So the first mistake that many people make in network marketing, they go in without knowing anything and they just make a lot of mistakes at the beginning. So that's one group of people. Now, the second group of people is equally as bad. And the second group of people who get involved in network marketing, and they need to become a PhD in network marketing, before they start talking to people. So these people will need to read every single book on network marketing, attend every single training and conference and convention, they'll have to memorize the marketing plan backwards, before they start talking to people.
That is also a huge mistake. Because a lot of the times they will quit the business before they start talking to people. Because you can never know everything in network marketing. Like I don't know if anybody knows everything, I don't know, I even don’t know if Eric Worre knows everything there is to know about network marketing, you know what I mean? Like I, I've been in this industry for 8 years, and I'm learning every single day, something new. So if you come into this business with a mind-set , that until I know everything, I'm not going to talk to people, then you're not going to make it because you're going to wait so long, without making any money, that you’re just going to quit anyway, it's just not going to make any more sense to be part of the business if you're not doing it, you know what I mean?
There has to be a balance. You can’t join this business and just go like a knucklehead like a headless chicken, without any clue what you're doing and just burn through the contacts by saying all the wrong things, by hyping, by telling people they're going to be rich tomorrow, and things like that. But you also can't just sit in the classroom for the next five years before taking any action. So you have to listen to what your sponsor tells you. You have to listen to what your mentor tells you.
But then go take action, the action they tell you to do. So just do as you're told, just follow instructions and you can do tremendously well. Just say, “Hey I don't know much about this thing. But I need to introduce you to this amazing woman. Well, I just got started, but I need you introduce you to this incredible, man. When do you have five minutes to sit down for a cup of coffee? This man is incredibly successful; this woman has incredibly achieved a lot. They are really smart. They're making a lot of money. And they're going to show you also how to do the same, when can we have a cup of coffee and I will introduce you to that person?” And you could also do this online right do a three way call on WhatsApp, on Skype, on zoom, on Facebook Messenger.
So don't make these two mistakes and you will absolutely rock it and tell your new team members about these two mistakes so that they know in advance like right now. I love recruiting new people. And when I recruit somebody new specialist somebody who's never done network marketing I go, “Oh my Gosh, your contacts haven't been burnt. How exciting is that? Don't tell them anything until I teach you what to tell.”
